Review by Tom Demalon
Founder and one-half of New York cult band Bongwater, Ann Magnuson released her solo debut, The Luv Show, in 1995. The album continued the pop-art quirks of her former band, but also showed a cinematic flair -- not surprising, considering that Magnuson has also had a successful acting career. Combining camp with numbers that lean toward show tunes, The Luv Show never fails to hold the listener's attention, with outrageous tracks like "Waterbeds of Hollywood," "Sex with the Devil," and the come-on "Miss Pussy Pants."
