Polish jazz composer Krzysztof Komeda (right) turned in a doozy of a score for Roman Polanski's 1968 creepy-old-people-in-league-with-Satan classic Rosemary's Baby. Equal parts lounge-y piano, unsettling, atonal orchestra pieces, 60's pop, and chanted incantations, this recording fully captures the kitschy contradiction of the cocktail-party armchair Satanism in the film. And I've never heard a lullaby as menacing as the one on here. Komeda is considered a genius in his home country, but is little-known elsewhere. Lame. Study up.
