Recorded as usual at 6/8 Studios in New York, a record by the french Etant Donnés with guests: Alan Vega, Lydia Lunch (ex-8-eyed spy, Teenage Jesus), Mark Cunningham (Mars, Don King, Jon Gavanti, Raeo) and Genesis P.Orridge (ex-Psychic TV, Throbbing Gristle, Thee Majesty). The results is rather sinister : if you consider that Suicide's records were celebrating life, then this one is about Alan Vega's nightmares ! (or as someone said, they all belong to the "no wave" of the "no wave").
Etant Donnes recorded quite at the same time, and also for Les Disques du Soleil et de l'Acier une second CD with Michael Gira (Swans).
Etant Donnes are two french brothers who are generally writing music for (or to fit with) a film they are making or previously made. Their name was choosen from some kind of happening- peep-show- art-exhibit by Marcel Duchamp.

In 'Re-Up', more futuristic and electronic than their previous works, the Hurtado brothers, driven by a necessary need for ETANT DONNES to open up to others, appointed prestigious assistants: Alan Vega (Suicide), Lydia Lunch, Genesis P-Orridge and Bachir Attar, a master Jajouka musician. Like the Ourobouros, the Hurtado brothers revive the violence of their début, yet with unquestionable maturity. The sounds race like electrons endlessly whirling around the atom, in the same way as Marc, like a star caught in the field of a planet, turns around Eric during the shows.

      Credits:

Etant Donnes (Eric and Marc Hurtado) are well known for their films, their music, and their live performances. Violently multidisciplinary, the two brothers devote themselves to music, cinema, poetry and apocalyptic performances with a rage that leaves their audiences flabbergasted. Their career spans 12 albums and collaborations with such emblematic figures of industrial music as Alan Vega (Suicide), Genesis P. Orridge (Throbbing Gristle, Psychic TV), Lydia Lunch, Michael Gira (Swans), Bachir Attar (Jajouka) and performances at major festivals (Sonar, Transmusicales, Atonal, Obliques...).
